The Multiplication Pack
The sequence
There is a defensible order to the multiplication tables, and it is not 1 to 12. The anchors are 2s, 5s and 10s, because each has a visible pattern — doubling, the five-count, and adding a zero — and a child who can see the pattern has a way in. 3s and 4s come next, with 4s taught as double 2s. 11s are quick. Then, and only then, the hard middle: 6s, 7s, 8s and 9s, the tables with no clean pattern, are taught together and given the most review. 12s extend the patterns already learned, and mixed facts at the end check that recall survives without the table title as a hint. This order is one defensible choice and not the only one; the guide says plainly that other teachers use other orders and why. The pack sequences these tables, tracks them and notes what to watch for.
These three have patterns a child can see — double, fives, and a zero. They build the confidence the hard tables need.
3s are the first table that needs real recall; 4s are double 2s, so connect them.
Up to 9 they repeat the digit; the ones to check are 11x11 and 11x12.
This is where the tables that do not pattern live. Give these the most review, not the least.
12s extend the patterns already learned; mixed facts test whether recall survives without the table title as a hint.

The placement sheet
The placement sheet is the first page of the Multiplication Pack, and it shows the order the tables are met in: the anchors of 2s, 5s and 10s first, then 3s and 4s, 11s, the hard middle of 6s through 9s, and 12s with mixed facts and the blank chart last. It is a route map, not a worksheet, so the sequence is clear before the first sheet is printed.

The tracker
The tracker is the printable grid that records which tables have been met and which still need work. Each row is one table or group and each column a state: met, needs review, or stuck. The hard middle deserves the most columns, because that is where recall is built. Filling it in after each sheet shows which table to return to.

When something will not stick
- For a hard table like 7s, break it into the facts a child already knows from 2s and 5s rather than starting from zero.
- If mixed facts reveal a specific weak fact, drill that fact, not the whole table.
- Short daily sessions on the hard middle beat a long weekly session.
